What Is Sialic Acid?

Sialic acid (SA) is the general name of 9-carbon sugar neuraminidase, the scientific name of "N-acetyl-neuraminidase"; It is an important component of brain ganglioside, which has the function of "inducing" and preventing pathogen invasion. It is usually located in the outermost carbohydrate part of the cell membrane and the key position of the secreted sugar complex (glycolipids, glycoproteins and polyfatty sugars), and is an important material basis for the structural and functional diversification of the sugar complex. Sialic acid is also called bird's nest acid because the content of sialic acid in bird's nest is as high as 7%-11%.
